Local Government and Provincial Councils Minister Faiszer Mustapha promised this afternoon that the gazette on holding the Local Government elections in January next year, would be published in Parliament next week.
Previously the Elections Commissioner had announced the elections would be held on either the 6th, 20th or 27th next year but a final date was not agreed upon.
Yesterday Tamil Progressive Front leader Minister Mano Ganesan said that a party leaders meeting with the inclusion of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today would produce a final date on which the Local Government polls will be held.
