Various Political views have been expressed over the weekend on a number of issues, including the upcoming local government elections.
Former President Chandrika Kumaratunge states it is necessary to elect an official based on his ability to work for the public and develop the nation, rather than his affiliation to political parties.
Meanwhile, United People’s Freedom Alliance MP Arundika Fernando says measures are being taken to unite all members of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party in order to form a single party government.
Furthermore, the National Organizer of the National Freedom Front Piyasiri Wijenayake has refuted allegations that he has been ousted from the party.
He further said that he has not been officially informed in this regard as yet.
MP Wijenayake added that no member can be expelled from the party due to the needs of the leader of the party.
