A poster campaign has been launched in Colombo, seemingly by a party supporting the government, targeting former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
The poster, which has been distributed in Colombo and suburbs, asks 'Gotha baya Amathakada" (Have you forgotten Gotha's fear) alluding to allegations against the former Defence Secretary.
The poster, however, had no information about the party which initiated the campaign.
This seems to be a response to a poster campaign launched in support of Gotabaya Rajapaksa's last week after news reports indicating his imminent arrest.
Multiple media reports stated two weeks ago that Rajapaksa's arrest was imminent over misappropriation of public funds. President Maithripala Sirisena intervened at the last moment and prevented the Police from arresting the former Defence Secretary.
