The “Tell the President” programme implemented by the Presidential Secretariat for citizens to submit complaints, suggestions, ideas and grievances directly to the president was recently awarded with e-Swabhimani gold award.
The Information and Communication Technology Agency selected “Tell the President” programme for maximally utilizing the information technology to serve the public and this award was presented to the President at the Presidential Secretariat, today (12).
The Secretary of the Ministry of Telecommunication and Digital Infrastructure, Mr. Wasantha Deshapriya presented this award to the President. The Chairman of Sri Lanka Telecom, Mr. Kumarasinghe Sirisena, Additional Secretary to the President Mr. Sunanda Kariyapperuma, Senior Assistant Secretary, Samanthi Ranasinghe, SLT Mobitel Senior General Manager Information Systems, Mr. Saman Perera, General Manager Mr. Prabhath Gamage and others participated on this occasion.
“Tell the President” program was introduced on January 8, 2016, on the first anniversary of the democratic governance, established under the leadership of the President.
Citizens can submit their complaints, suggestions, ideas and grievances directly to the President through the “Tell the President” program via 1919 by telephone, emails, sms and letters. The objective of this project is to provide facilities to provide quick solutions for the issues presented by the public.
The complaints are examined by the Public Relations Unit of the Presidential Secretariat and direct them to relevant ministries or institutions for further actions.
All activities are performed through a computerized system created with modern technology.
The ‘Tell the President’ program has received 164,504 complaints so far while 62,351 complaints out of them have been solved. There are 59,351 complaints currently pending final solutions.
