Joint Opposition member and the Deputy Chairman of the Western Provincial Council Yasapala Koralage, has crossed over to the ruling coalition led by President Maithriapala Sirisena, in a show of support.
Koralage met President Sirisena at his official residence in Colombo last evening and pledged to support the programs implemented by the latter.
Sources say the President had appointed Koralage as Sri Lanka Freedom Party Organizer for the Horana District, while the latter had received his letter of appointment last evening.
Meanwhile, Susil Karunatilleke was appointed as the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Organizer for the Matara District and also received his letter of appointment from President Sirisena yesterday.
Furthermore, a group of United National Party members, who formed the former Gampaha Provincial Council are also said to have pledged their support to President Maithripala Sirisena.
