President Maithripala Sirisena met Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and Speaker Karu Jayasuriya for talks yesterday.
The meeting was expected to focus on the political situation in the country.
The Sri Lanka Freedom Party and the United National Party have been discussing the possibility of going solo.
Prime Minister and the leader of the United National Party, Ranil Wickremesinghe had informed President Maithripala Sirisena that he will not resign from the post of Prime Minister unless he lost in a no-confidence motion passed in parliament.
This was stated during the special discussion held with the President last evening.
Also, General Secretary of the UNP, Minister Kabir Hashim has too told the President that the party's intention is to continue the good governance unity government and the party has no intention to change the Prime Minister.
