Teacher demands 500 million in compensation from Uva CM

The Teacher from the Badulla Tamil Vidyalaya, who was made to kneel before the Chief Minister of the Uva Province Chamara Sampath Dassanayake, has submitted a letter requesting for 500 million rupees in compensation.

The lawyer representing the Chief Minister told us, that the teacher has requested for the compensation due to the damage caused to her reputation as a result of the incident.

Meanwhile, the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka is currently conducting an investigation into the incident.

However, the Commission says the request for compensation put forward by the teacher, at a time when investigations are being conducted into the incident, was equal to challenging the commission.
