The United National Party states that if Cabinet Ministers who represent the United National Party vote in favor of the no-confidence motion filed against Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe, they should do so only following the submission of their resignations.

Addressing a gathering in Nuwara Eliya Minister Naveen Dissanayeke expressed this sentiment.

Meanwhile Chairman of the Sri Lanka Podu Jana Peramuna Professor G.L. Peiris said that the Motion of no-confidence filed against the Prime Minister offers an unprecedented opportunity to the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, which it may never receive again.
