Just a few days ago, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan used his social media accounts to voice his concern over several issues in the country. He spoke about the flood situation in Assam and Gujarat and urged people to come forward and donate.
For the uninitiated, State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) has claimed that close to 5,000 people are still affected in Lakhimpur and Jorhat districts and close to 366 people under the shelter of four relief camps in the two districts.
"Friends, many areas of Assam and Gujarat have been affected by heavy floods. And, our brothers and sisters there are facing a lot of difficulties. Lots of lives have also been lost and there has been a huge financial loss too. We are helpless in front of nature but we can help those staying there."
And now, Aamir has proved that he indeed is a responsible citizen by donating Rs 25 lakh to the Assam government for its flood relief operations. For the uninitiated, the floods in Assam has not just killed close to 90 people, leaving many homeless.
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal thanked Aamir by posting a tweet. He wrote,
While many claim that Khans in Bollywood make films and end up making crores of money, instances like these prove that they have their hearts in the right place too.
