Medical Faculty Students' Action Committee Convener Ryan Jayalath was further remanded till October 11 today by the Maligakanda Magistrate.
Jayalath was arrested on August 18 after he surrendered to the Maligakanda Magistrate’s Court with his lawyers.
On August 10 a warrant was issued for the arrest of Ryan Jayalath for forcibly entering and causing damage to state property.
On June 21 medical students protesting against the South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM) stormed the Health Ministry seeking audience with the Health Minister.
Nearly 100 students were admitted to the Colombo National Hospital in the resultant melee with security forces.
