The Ministry of Home Affairs states that the salary of public sector employees would be subject to an increase of 15% commencing from the 1st of January 2018.
Minister of Home Affairs Vajira Abeygunawardhana said that an additional sum of 12 billion rupees would be required annually in order to settle pensions and revised salaries to public sector employees.
The salary revisal’s due to come into effect from 2018 will be applicable from public sector Office Assistants to the Attorney General.
Moreover, under the revisal’s the salary of an Office Assistant will be increased from 14,000 rupees to 23,000 rupees while the Attorney General’s salary would be increased to 116, 000 rupees.
Meanwhile the basic salary of a specialist will be increased from 60,000 rupees to 69,756.
