A number of properties were reportedly destroyed during the recent unrest in Kandy.
Police state they have received reports of 45 incidents of houses and shops being damaged and 11 incidents of vehicles being damaged.
Kandy District Secretary H. M. P. Hitisekera says that the estimation of the damages caused to property during the unrest will commence from today.
He said aid relief has already commenced in the Harispatthuwa area.
Hitisekera also urged residents not to be misled by false information, which has caused tensions in the area.
