The National Council for Road Safety states that it will be made compulsory for trishaws to have functional trishaw meters from the 20th of April.
Chairman off the Council Sisira Kodagoda said that the law would be strictly implemented against errant trishaw owners & drivers who do not comply with the measure.
He also said that police would be empowered to charge trishaw drivers who are non-compliant.
