The University Trade Union Joint Committee says it will not call off its on- going strike today, as announced before.
The Committee has been engaged in a strike action for over a month, over several demands, including salary anomalies, hampering activities of state universities.
Following discussions held with officials from the Ministry of Higher Education this week, it was agreed by the Ministry to issue an official circular yesterday with regard to the agreements made with the Committee.
However, Chairman of the Committee Edward Malwattage told News 24, that as the circular was not released yesterday as promised, the University Trade Union Joint Committee has decided to further continue its strike action.
